About Abigail Rae

Abigail Rae, originally from a small town in Minnesota, studied linguistics and graphic design. After receiving her masters in education, she taught high school English, literature and writing. In 2019, with family by her side and a pile of animals at her feet, she opened Wildwood Studio, an in-house graphic design and illustration business. Abigail continues to share her passion for storytelling and illustrating from her homespun studio, local coffeehouse, or friendly stump in the woods.

Extended Bio

As an author-illustrator, Abigail feels like a collector of tiny moments, gathering strands until there is enough wonder to weave a story. As a child and teen, reading was like a scrambled word challenge…perhaps, that was part of the magic. Each time she explored an illustration, the story changed and allowed room for a fresh adventure. Her degree in linguistics may have helped her learn how to navigate reading, but illustrations never lost their sense of wonder.

Abigail aspires to create books that are inclusive, offering alternative ways to experience and interpret the world. She hopes her work provides others with freedom and space to settle in to an experience that is all their own.
